I’m calling to ask Senator [name] if he/she supports the nomination of Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education?

(if no) Thank you. I support the senator’s position as Ms. DeVos is clearly unqualified for the position.

(if yes or unsure) How does Sen. [name] feel about a nominee that has never been a professional educator nor has run a public education agency?

According to the New York Times, Ms. DeVos has substantial investments and ties to student loan refinancing and education product companies.

How does Sen. [name] feel about a Secretary of Education with these clear conflicts of interest?

In what ways does the senator believe Ms. DeVos is qualified to lead a department overseeing the public education of over 50 million children, despite her extensive history of diverting taxpayer dollars away from public schools in Michigan?

Thank you for taking my call. Ms. DeVos is not qualified in anyway to oversee our public education system. As a billionaire lobbyist, she has worked intensely to weaken public education rather than strengthen it and I do not stand for that. I hope my senator stands with me, and if he/she does not, I’ll be sure to let my friends and family know.
