Protect the National Security Council

Call your representatives to cosponsor legislation to protect the National Security Council from political operatives, like white supremacist Steve Bannon. The NSC has traditionally relied on experienced security officials, like the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and intelligence leaders. Bannon has no place being in the NSC, according the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Ret. Admiral Michael McMullen.

Ask your House representative to cosponsor HR804 “To amend the National Security Act of 1947 to protect the National Security Council from political interference, and for other purposes.” Lou Correa is currently a cosponsor. If your representative is not a cosponsor, ask if they believe the NSC should keep it’s traditional role to provide independent and objective advice on national security. Why should a political advisor, like Steve Bannon, taint the the NSC’s role?

Sen. Feinstein and Sen. Harris are currently cosponsors of S291 “A bill to amend the National Security Act of 1947 to modify the requirements for membership in the National Security Council and cabinet-level policy forum, and for other purposes.” Encourage friends and family in other states to call their senators to cosponsor this important Senate legislation.
