Call for Sessions’ Resignation and Special Prosecutor

The Washington Post reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had two conversations in 2016 as a senator and Trump surrogate with Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak, which he failed to disclosed during his confirmation hearing when questioned by Sen. Al Franken UNDER OATH. Sessions’ actions have already prompted a statement from a former White House ethics lawyer for George W. Bush: “Misleading the Senate in sworn testimony about one own contacts with the Russians is a good way to go to jail.”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Elijah Cummings (ranking member of the House Oversight Committee), Sen. Kamala Harris, and many others have called for Sessions’ resignation and a special, independent prosecutor to investigate the connections between Trump’s team and Russia.

By Sessions’ own standard (and this is another important read), if he committed perjury, then “equal justice requires that he forfeit his office.”

Lastly, while the deputy Attorney General will oversee investigations regarding Trump and Russia, only “special prosecutor” can investigate Sessions’ actions. Thus, ask for a special prosecutor.

Call your members of Congress and ask them to publicly call for Sessions’ resignation for committing perjury in the Senate. Recusal is not enough. Also ask for a “special prosecutor” who will have the independence to fully investigate Sessions and his fellow Trump associates for their ties to Russia. Updated call script from IndivisibleGuide.com.
